October 7 (9:30-10:30am) - Reedy Band Orientation (required for 8th graders zoned to Reedy HS)
October 9 - Band Performs at Bledsoe Walk to School Day. (Required for Symphonic Band, encouraged for Concert Band)
October 10 - Middle School Night with the Reedy Band (required for students zoned for Reedy HS). Information below.
October 18 - Middle School Night with the Frisco HS Band (required for students zoned for Frisco HS). Information coming soon!!

Pearson Middle School 8th Grade Football Game Performance
Date: Monday, September 30
Place: Reedy HS Football Field (map below)
Schedule:
5:00pm Percussion students / parents meet the band directors at the band hall to load and transport drums.
5:30pm Pearson Band students arrive at the Reedy HS Football Field. Students must provide their own transportation. Students should eat dinner before they arrive.
8:00pm All students are picked up from the Reedy HS Football Field. Percussion students / parents transport drums back to Pearson MS.
What to wear: September 30th is Pearson's Pink Out game! Students can wear a pink t-shirt OR a Pearson Band t-shirt with any pants or shorts. Baseball caps, sunglasses, sunscreen, and pink accessories (bandanas, socks, etc) are highly encouraged!
What to bring: Your instrument and everything you need to play it (if you have a home and a school instrument, bring the home instrument). Students should bring their Pearson-provided flip folder and lyre as well. Students that play the oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, euphonium and tuba will need to bring a folding stand. They will be provided a bottle of water and a small snack at the game.
Please note - students will NOT be allowed to purchase food and drinks from the concession stand during the game. Parents, please do not purchase food or drink for them and try to deliver it to the stands. Thank you!
This is a required event for all Concert and Symphonic Band Students. We will send separate communication with instructions for 8th grade students in football.

Symphonic Band All-Region Masterclass #2
On Friday, October 4, we will hold our second (and final) All-Region Masterclass for students in Symphonic Band. The purpose of this activity is to help students learn and improve on their All-Region music to prepare them for the audition in October.
Where: Pearson Middle School
Time: 4:30-6:00pm. Students should stay after school in the band hall from 3:45-4:30 to assist us with set up.
This will replace the Symphonic Band scheduled sectional for the week of September 30-October 4. We will resume our normal schedule the week of October 7-10.
This is a required event. Email Mr. Jenson ASAP with any conflicts.
(Note - students in Concert Band will have their regularly scheduled sectionals with Ms. Jobe the week of September 30-October 4)
Spirit Night- October 8th
The Pearson Band is having a Spirit "Night" at Pop Parlour on October 8th! Go get some popsicles and say that you are with the Pearson Band so that we get some of the proceeds. This lasts all day.
Bledsoe Elementary Performance for Walk to School Day
We have been asked to perform at Bledsoe Elementary on Wednesday October 9 to celebrate walk to school day!! We are very excited about this opportunity!!
Schedule:
7:00-7:05am - Percussion (or large instruments) arrive at Pearson to get their instrument. You can choose to load your equipment into a parent's car and drive it to Bledsoe or you can choose to walk.
7:10am - All students meet at the front Entrance of Bledsoe
7:15am - Begin performing
7:45am - Performance ends. Walk back to Pearson. Percussion can choose to load your equipment into a parent's car and drive it to Pearson or you can choose to walk.
What to bring:
Instrument
Flip Folder and Lyre or a folding music stand
Students who have a home and school instrument should bring their home instrument
If students have forgotten any of these items, they can pick them up from the band hall at 7:00am
What to wear:
A band tshirt OR a shirt from another Pearson organization (to show the elementary kids that they can do Band and other activities)
This is a required performance for all students in Symphonic Band and an optional (but highly encouraged!) performance for students in Concert Band.
Middle School Night with the Reedy Band-
7th and 8th Grade band members from Pearson Middle School and Pioneer Heritage Middle School are invited to perform at the Reedy HS football game on Thursday, October 10th at Toyota Stadium! The combined bands will perform in the stands with the Reedy High School Band and then stay in the stands for a great view of the Reedy H.S. Marching Band at halftime. Just think, in just a year or two, all of you will be out there with them!
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend but will need to purchase a ticket to the game at the gate or online here https://tickets.friscoisd.org/
In addition to the game night, we are inviting all 8th graders to meet with us that week for a little orientation to the Reedy band during the school day on October 7th from 9:30am-10:30am. We will have a bus for Pioneer Heritage and Pearson band students may walk if the weather is good. You already have permission to miss a little school that day for the visit!! It will be a blast!
Thursday, October 10th - Toyota Stadium
4:15pm Arrive at Reedy HS Students are responsible for providing their own
transportation - we highly encourage carpooling! :)
Bring - Instrument (in the case), lyre/wire music stand/flip folder (depending on your instrument), and water bottle or large water jug.
Wear - School Band Shirt and tennis shoes.
4:30pm Dinner provided in the Reedy HS Cafeteria. Students will eat with the Reedy
Band in sections. Chick Fil a will be served. Let us know of any special diets through your MS band Directors.
5:45pm Load the busses and depart for Toyota Stadium
6:00pm Arrive at Toyota Stadium
Everyone will move to the stands as a group with your instrument and wait to be
seated.
7:00pm Kickoff
We will play Crunch Time and The Hey Song in the stands with the
combined bands!
Halftime
Middle school students will watch the HS halftime show from the stands and then exit the stadium with their directors for pick up.
Return to Pearson
Following halftime, we will load the busses and return to Pearson. We are estimating a 9:15-9:30 return to Pearson, but we will have students communicate when we leave.
The Reedy Band is SUPER excited to have you as their guest and ask that you follow the same guidelines for the Reedy Band members during the game.
In the stands- No cell phones, no food, no drinks, no candy, and no visitors.
Stay involved in the game! Stand up and cheer for Reedy!
Everyone stays until it is time to go.

No Symphonic Band sectionals during the week of 9/30-10/4
Concert Band Sectionals
Students in Concert Band will begin their weekly sectional rehearsals the week of August 26.
Monday AM (7:30-8:15): Flutes
Monday PM (3:55-4:40): Tubas and Euphoniums
TuesdayAM (7:30-8:15): Oboes
Tuesday PM (3:55-4:40): Trombones
Wednesday AM (7:30-8:15): Clarinets and Bass Clarinets
Wednesday PM (3:55-4:40): Trumpets
Thursday PM (3:55- 4:40): Saxophones
Friday AM (7:30-8:15): French Horns
Percussion will have sectionals during class with Ms. Magee during the first part of the year.
Private Lessons
We highly recommend all students in Symphonic and Concert Band sign up for private lessons, even if you were not enrolled last year. Private lessons are a great way to progress on your instrument with the assistance of a master teacher who plays that same instrument. While tutoring in a core class might only be to catch up or erase deficits in the learning process, private lessons are for everyone. Typically, the top musicians in the band program are ones that are in private lessons!
This is the time to sign up. Our teachers are in high demand and teach across several different campuses and districts. Lesson times are first come first serve, so sign up ASAP. You can sign up by reaching out to the lesson teachers directly via email, which can be found at our website HERE. You can also email Mr. Jenson at jensonm@friscoisd.org.
If you were enrolled in lessons last year, make sure you reach out to your lesson teacher to get on their schedule for this year.

Most of our Concert and Symphonic Band students have all of their correct supplies for class. If your student does not, please refer to the following:
