All 7th and 8th Grade band members that will be attending Reedy High School from Pearson Middle School and Pioneer Heritage Middle School are going to perform at the Reedy HS football game on Friday, September 12th!  The combined bands will perform in the stands with the Reedy High School Band and then stay in the stands for a great view of the Reedy H.S. Marching Band at halftime.  Just think, in just a year or two, all of you will be out there with them!

What to bring/wear: Students will wear their new 2025-2026 Pearson Band Shirts. Students will also need to bring their instruments. Students that play the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, and percussion will need to bring their school issued flip folders and lyres. Students that play the oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, euphonium, and tuba will need to bring their folding music stand and band binders. All students need to bring a water bottle so that they have access to water during the game.

NOTE Due to the number of students we are taking to this game (70+), parents will not be permitted to pick up their child from Kuykendall Stadium UNLESS they are chaperoning this trip. This is for the safety of all students and to allow us to depart as close to after half time as possible.

  • Volunteers must purchase a ticket to the game HERE.  Frisco ISD will not allow volunteers into the game without a ticket.

The Reedy Band is SUPER excited to have you as their guest and ask that you follow the same guidelines for the Reedy Band members during the game.

Band Buddies

In the Pearson Band, we have an optional peer mentor system called Band Buddies. In Band Buddies, beginner band members are paired with students in Concert and Symphonic Band. These older students provide a support system to help the beginners as they go through the challenges of learning a new instrument for the first time. The goal is for students to meet with their Band Buddies at various times throughout the year and practice together. We have a lot of great students in Concert and Symphonic Band that are excited to help the beginners because they remember what it was like to start their musical journey!

I have asked all of the students to fill out the Band Buddies Interest form by Monday, September 15th. Students are not required to have a Band Buddy, but everyone needs to fill out the form to let me know if they are interested so that nobody gets left out. Students must be signed into their Frisco ISD Google Account in order to complete the form.

For students that choose to participate in Band Buddies, we will have a Band Buddy Meet and Greet after school on Thursday, September 18th in the Pearson Cafeteria from 4:00 PM-4:45 PM. This will be when the band buddies get to meet each other, enjoy some ice cream/popsicles together, and plan when they are going to meet in the future.

Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase

The 8th Annual Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase presented by Whataburger will be held at the Ford Center at The Star on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m.

All twelve Frisco ISD Marching Bands will perform their 2025 competitive marching band productions.

Tickets can be purchased here. Cost is $7 for general admission. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate (while supplies last); however, individuals are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

Private Lessons

We highly recommend all students in Symphonic and Concert Band sign up for private lessons, even if you were not enrolled last year. Private lessons are a great way to progress on your instrument with the assistance of a master teacher who plays that same instrument. While tutoring in a core class might only be to catch up or erase deficits in the learning process, private lessons are for everyone. Typically, the top musicians in the band program are ones that are in private lessons!

This is the time to sign up. Our teachers are in high demand and teach across several different campuses and districts. Lesson times are first come first serve, so sign up ASAP. You can sign up by reaching out to the lesson teachers directly via email, which can be found at our website HERE. You can also email Ms. Jobe at joble@friscoisd.org

If you were enrolled in lessons last year, make sure you reach out to your lesson teacher to get on their schedule for this year.
