Reedy High School Band Booster Club

The RHS BBC is ready to take nominations for the 2024 – 2025 Booster Board.  The Interest form must be completed by March 31st.

Hello Reedy Band Parents,

The future of the Reedy Band program is shaped in part by the people who are chosen to serve in leadership roles as Officers of the RHSBBC (Reedy High School Band Booster Club).  These officers are a vital part of the success of many facets of the band program.  Officers are asked to commit two years to their position and the Booster Club’s future is determined by the leadership qualities and people skills of the individuals selected.

No officer will be permitted to hold more than one office at a time and only one member of a family may serve as an officer unless serving as co-chairs in the same office. An RHSBBC officer should exhibit enthusiasm for the Reedy Band, be willing to attend Booster Club meetings and have a sense of justice and fairness. Newly elected Board members will begin working on the next year immediately upon being voted in with existing Board members continuing to work on the current year and assist with the transition of leadership.

If you are interested in running for an office or would like to nominate someone, please submit this interest form including a brief description of qualifications on or before March 31st to the Executive Board Nominations Committee.  Forms may be returned in a sealed envelope marked “Nominating Committee” in the band lock box OR by completion of this Google Form.

Below is a description of each RHSBBC leadership position:

President: Ensure accomplishment of all orders and resolutions of the Board; Preside over all meetings; Maintain communication with Band Director, Students, and Parents regarding Board decisions

Wylie East Jazz Festival

On Saturday, April 6th, the Pearson Jazz Band will be performing at the Wylie East Jazz Festival at Wylie East High School. This is the same festival we have gone to the last two years, and the students had a great experience.  The festival will feature a judged performance by the Jazz Band as well as an incredibly valuable clinic with our judge after the performance to help us learn and grow as jazz musicians. There will be awards for outstanding solos and sections as well. I am incredibly excited about this opportunity.

The itinerary for the day goes as follows:

12:00 PM- Meet at Pearson wearing our 2023-2024 Pearson Band shirt, Jeans, and tennis shoes. We will have a pizza lunch provided for members of the band.

12:30 PM- Equipment check in the band hall before departing

12:45 PM- Load the busses and depart to Wylie East High School

1:45 PM- Arrive at Wylie East High School and check in

2:00 PM- Begin warm-up in the black box theater

2:30 PM- Perform in the Wylie East auditorium

3:00 PM- Clinic with our judge in the band hall

3:30 PM- Load the busses and depart

4:20 PM- Arrive back at Pearson MS

Attached to this letter is a travel release form that is required for this trip. Please sign and return this form by Friday, March 22nd. By returning this form, your student is committing to this performance, as well as rehearsals on Mondays after school and during select advisory periods. We want to make sure that we have the best possible performance at the festival, and to do that we have to have high attendance numbers from everyone in the band!

We are in need of assistance with transporting the band! We have 2 tubas, a bari sax, and a string bass that cannot go on the bus. We are looking for 1-2 parents with large vehicles that could help transport these instruments. If you can help us move these instruments from Pearson to Wylie East High School and back, please let me know!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at jensonm@friscoisd.org if you have any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Mr. Morgan Jenson
