Pearson Middle School Band Summer Camp / Build the Beat
The Pearson Symphonic and Concert Bands will perform at the Build the Beat community Pep Rally on Saturday, August 5th. Athletics students will be able to participate in both athletics and band events for the day. To prepare for the event, we will have a summer band camp to help us learn the new music that we will be playing. Our camp will be held on Monday July 31, Thursday August 3, Friday August 4, and Saturday August 5. All rehearsals will take place in the Pearson Band Hall.
The Schedule is as follows:
Monday July 31: Section Rehearsals
10:00-noon: Flutes, Oboes, Trumpets, French Horns, Percussion*
12:30-2:30pm: Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Alto/Tenor/Bari Saxophones, Bassoons, Trombones, Euphoniums, Tubas, Percussion*
(*Percussion students should bring a lunch to eat in the band hall from noon-12:30pm.)
Thursday, August 3:
4:00-6:00pm: Full Band Rehearsal (all instruments)
Friday, August 4:
4:00-5:30pm: Full Band Rehearsal (all instruments)
6:00-8:00pm: Social Event at The Cove in Little Elm (not required; information below)
Saturday, August 5:
11:00am: Student volunteers arrive to help us set up chairs and stands
11:15am: Percussion students arrive to move drums/stands
11:30am: All other band students arrive
12:00pm: Build the Beat Pep Rally begins in the Big Gym
12:30pm: Approximate ending time. All students will bring band equipment back to the band hall
12:45pm: Approximate dismissal time
Students will wear their 2021-2022 Pearson Band Shirt (let Mrs. Black know if you do not have one)
Due to the importance of the preparation for Build the Beat and the 2023-2024 school year, all rehearsals and performances are required for all Pearson Band members. We understand that some families may still be out of town or on vacation during this time. If your family will be out of town, please communicate that with your band director ASAP.
We are looking forward to both our summer band camp and the Build the Beat Pep Rally! It will be a lot of fun to see everyone again and make music together.
Band Party at The Cove
Date: August 4
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: The Cove at The Lakefront, 417 Lakefront Dr, Little Elm, TX 75068
Transportation for this event is not provided.
The cost of tickets for the party is $14 and includes admission into the park and pizza along with your choice of juice/water. There are concessions available as well, but all students are responsible for their own money and supplies. This event is only for Pearson Band students that do not have any unexcused absences from Summer Band.

A note about Cheddar Up: This is a new system that the band is interested in using this year to collect payments in lieu of Charms like we have used in years past. We have heard great things about this program from other band directors, specifically with regards to how user friendly it is. Our hope is that using Cheddar Up will lead to a better experience with money collection than what we have had in the past. Since this is a new system for us, please let us know if there are any issues and be patient as we work to fix them.
If you do not want to pay online, please order on Cheddar Up and select "Pay with cash or check" at checkout. Students can pay with cash or check on Monday July 31st when they come to band camp. Please put the payment in a sealed envelope with your student's first and last name written on it.
The deadline for purchasing tickets is Monday, July 31st at 6:00pm. This is so that we can get a final headcount to The Cove by the end of business hours that day. We are unable to accept late payments.
Supplies for Concert and Symphonic Band Students
Click on the following link for Symphonic and Concert Band class materials for next school year: https://www.pearsonband.com/supplies. All supplies can be ordered online through Williamson Music 1st, at any local music store, or even Amazon. The deadline to have all supplies in class is Thursday, August 9th. Students will need to have their “Concert Black” uniform for our Winter Concert on December 7th.
