December 1-2 - All Region Clinic and Concert at McKinney North High School (Symphonic Band students who were selected via the audition process)
December 6 - Beginning Band and Jazz Band Winter Concert (required for Jazz Band)
December 7 - Concert and Symphonic Band Winter Concert (required, graded event)
December 11 - Symphonic Band Side by Side Clinic with Reedy HS (required for 8th graders who will be attending Reedy HS)
December 13 - Symphonic Band Holiday Tour Day 1
December 14 - Spirit Night Fundraiser at Raising Canes
December 18 - Symphonic Band Holiday Tour Day 2
January 12 - Main Event Social Event
Jazz Band Concert- December 6th
5:45 pm- Rhythm Section arrive- set up in cafeteria
6:00 pm- Winds seated in cafeteria wearing band shirt and jeans. Warm up begins
6:30 pm- Concert starts. We will play a rock tune and then Jingle Bell Swing. After we play, we will watch the beginners play.
7:00 pm- Concert ends. Everyone helps the rhythm section pack up and put their equipment away.
Please contact Mr. Jenson ASAP if your Jazz Band student is unable to attend this concert.
Winter Concert
Pearson MS Band - Winter Cluster Concert (Reedy HS, Pearson MS, Pioneer Heritage MS) 6:00-9:00pm
Thursday December 7 - Reedy HS Auditorium
Bring: Instrument (and all the supplies needed to play it) and band binder.
Wear: “Formal Uniform” (Black dress pants, Black dress shirt (button-up or blouse) with sleeves that hit the elbows or below, Black dress shoes (closed toe, flat bottom), Plain, long black dress socks or stockings. See a great example of band students wearing the correct uniform in this instagram post! Students should NOT wear tshirts, jeans or joggers, tennis shoes/sneakers, or white socks.
Students are welcome to wear festive headwear and/or accessories to this concert.
CONCERT BAND ITINERARY
6:15pm Arrive at Reedy HS. Go to the CAFETERIA.
6:30pm Warm-up begins.
7:00pm Concert Band Performs on the auditorium stage.
7:20pm Approximate ending time of the Concert Band Performance. Students and
families have the option to leave or stay and watch other groups perform.
SYMPHONIC BAND ITINERARY
7:15pm Arrive at Reedy HS. Go to the ORCHESTRA ROOM.
7:30pm Warm-up begins.
8:00pm Symphonic Band Performs on the auditorium stage.
8:20pm Approximate ending time of the Symphonic Band Performance. Students and
families have the option to leave or stay and watch other groups perform.
This performance is part of the Concert and Symphonic Band curriculum, therefore attendance and participation is required and graded. If any conflicts arise, please contact Mrs. Black or Mr. Jenson ASAP. We are aware that there is a conflict with the 7th grade girls / 8th grade boys basketball games. We have spoken to the students who are involved in both activities and have resolved all conflicts. If you have any questions, please reach out.
Main Event Social Event
On Friday, January 12th, the Pearson Band will have its annual Main Event Social at Main Event Frisco. This optional event will be from 4:30-7:30 PM.
Tickets to the Main Event Social will be $27 and will include a $10 game card, pizza, a drink, and unlimited access to bowling, laser tag, gravity ropes, billiards, shuffleboard, and mini-golf. Transportation will not be provided, so students will need to be dropped off at 4:30 and will need to be picked up by 7:30. Please see the attached guidelines list for more information.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on the Cheddar Up Online Store. Refunds will not be available for absent students, but they may use the purchased game card at any other point in time. This offer is for Pearson Band members only. Tickets must be purchased by Monday, January 8th at 11:59 PM.
Per Main Event policies, we will need several parent chaperones for this event. If you are available and willing to chaperone, please sign-up at this link. We currently have spots for 6 chaperones, but more might be needed later depending on how many students go on the trip.
