Band Parent Meeting Follow-up- Action Needed!
Thank you to those of you who attended the Band Parent Meeting last night! It was great getting to meet and speak with so many of our new band parents, and I am excited to get this year underway. If you were unable to attend the Band Parent Meeting, the slides for the meeting can be viewed at bit.ly/pmsbpmeeting26. The Beginner Band slides are the first half; the Advanced Band (Concert/Symphonic) slides are the second half. The meeting was recorded and can be viewed HERE.
Action Items:
1. Read through the Band Handbook
2. Fill out the 2026-2027 Pearson Band Information Form. If you have multiple kids in the Pearson Band, you will need to fill out a separate form for each student. This form is due by Tuesday, August 25th.
3. If your student is using a school-owned instrument (oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, french horn, euphonium, tuba), you will need to pay the School Owned Instrument fee on Online School Fees. This is due by September 5th.
4. Pay the band fee on Cheddar Up. If you have multiple kids in the Pearson Band, you will need to make a separate transaction for each student. Payment is due by September 19th.
Band Buddies
In the Pearson Band, we have an optional peer mentor system called Band Buddies. In Band Buddies, beginner band members are paired with students in Concert and Symphonic Band. These older students provide a support system to help the beginners as they go through the challenges of learning a new instrument for the first time. The goal is for students to meet with their Band Buddies at various times throughout the year and practice together. We have a lot of great students in Concert and Symphonic Band that are excited to help the beginners because they remember what it was like to start their musical journey!
I have asked all of the students to fill out the Band Buddies Interest form by Monday, September 14th. Students are not required to have a Band Buddy, but everyone needs to fill out the form to let me know if they are interested so that nobody gets left out. Students must be signed into their Frisco ISD Google Account in order to complete the form.
For students that choose to participate in Band Buddies, we will have a Band Buddy Meet and Greet after school on Friday, September 18th in the Pearson Cafeteria from 4:00 PM-4:45 PM. This will be when the band buddies get to meet each other, enjoy some ice cream/popsicles together, and plan when they are going to meet in the future.
Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase
The 8th Annual Frisco ISD Marching Band Showcase presented by Whataburger will be held at the Ford Center at The Star on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m.
All twelve Frisco ISD Marching Bands will perform their 2026 competitive marching band productions.
Tickets can be purchased here. Cost is $8 for general admission. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate (while supplies last); however, individuals are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
Private Lessons
We highly recommend all students in Beginner Band sign up for private lessons. Private lessons are a great way to progress on your instrument with the assistance of a master teacher who plays that same instrument. While tutoring in a core class might only be to catch up or erase deficits in the learning process, private lessons are for everyone. Typically, the top musicians in the band program are ones that are in private lessons! Lessons are $25 per lesson and payment is handled between the parents and the lesson teacher. Scholarships from our Band Parent Association (Band Boosters) are available to those who need.
This is the time to sign up. Our teachers are in high demand and teach across several different campuses and districts. Lesson times are first come first serve, so sign up ASAP. You can sign up by filling out the form HERE.
Instruments and Supplies
All band students need an instruments and supplies in order to be successful in band this year. If you have not ordered them, please click on the following link for directions on how to do so.
Amazon Wish List
We have received SO many items from our wishlist this year! There were several that did not have a name with the gift- If you purchased something off of the band wishlist, please know that we appreciate it so much!
