Reedy Preview Day - Monday, October 7

8th grade students who will be attending Reedy High School next year will attend "Reedy Preview Day" on Monday, October 7th! During this event, our students will have the opportunity to go to Reedy HS and meet with the current members of the band to get a small taste of what they will experience on Friday at the Middle School Band Night and beyond!

Next Monday, all Reedy-bound 8th grade students will need to go to the band hall for 2nd period. We have a bus set to take 8th grade students from Pearson to Reedy HS at 9:15 AM and will return at 10:45 AM. However, if the weather is nice, we might just walk over since we are so close. We will not be taking instruments and students do not need to wear any specific uniform. This event has been approved by our school admin, and teachers are aware that these students will be missing at this time. All students are responsible for making up any missed work.

This is going to be a great experience for all involved, and we are so excited for our students to get to interact with our former Patriots in the Reedy Band!

Spirit Night- October 8th

The Pearson Band is having a Spirit "Night" at Pop Parlour on October 8th! Go get some popsicles and say that you are with the Pearson Band so that we get some of the proceeds. This event lasts all day.

Middle School Night with the Reedy Band- Thursday, October 10th

7th and 8th Grade band members from Pearson Middle School and Pioneer Heritage Middle School are invited to perform at the Reedy HS football game on Thursday, October 10th at Toyota Stadium!  The combined bands will perform in the stands with the Reedy High School Band and then stay in the stands for a great view of the Reedy H.S. Marching Band at halftime.  Just think, in just a year or two, all of you will be out there with them!

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend but will need to purchase a ticket to the game at the gate or online here https://tickets.friscoisd.org/

In addition to the game night, we are inviting all 8th graders to meet with us that week for a little orientation to the Reedy band during the school day on October 7th from 9:30am-10:30am.  We will have a bus for Pioneer Heritage and Pearson band students may walk if the weather is good.  You already have permission to miss a little school that day for the visit!!   It will be a blast!

Private Lessons

We highly recommend all students in Symphonic and Concert Band sign up for private lessons, even if you were not enrolled last year. Private lessons are a great way to progress on your instrument with the assistance of a master teacher who plays that same instrument. While tutoring in a core class might only be to catch up or erase deficits in the learning process, private lessons are for everyone. Typically, the top musicians in the band program are ones that are in private lessons!

This is the time to sign up. Our teachers are in high demand and teach across several different campuses and districts. Lesson times are first come first serve, so sign up ASAP. You can sign up by reaching out to the lesson teachers directly via email, which can be found at our website HERE. You can also email Mr. Jenson at jensonm@friscoisd.org.

If you were enrolled in lessons last year, make sure you reach out to your lesson teacher to get on their schedule for this year.

Supplies

Most of our Concert and Symphonic Band students have all of their correct supplies for class. If your student does not, please refer to the following:
