Concert and Symphonic Band - November 4, 2022

Updated: Nov 7, 2022

Organization/Club Picture Day - Wednesday November 9

Students should wear their band t-shirt on Wednesday November 9 for the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band yearbook pictures.

UNT Concert Social Event

This month we will be taking a trip to see the University of North Texas Wind Orchestra and Wind Symphony perform a joint concert in Denton. These are two of the best collegiate bands in the entire country, and we are fortunate to have them available to us in our own backyard! This trip is open to all current members of the Pearson Band. Students must be in good standing with their band fees and passing all classes to attend.

This trip is optional and is not for a grade. The concert is on Thursday, November 17th. Students will need to meet in the band hall at 5:30 for a pizza party. We will then leave for the concert at 6:15 PM. We will leave UNT at 9:45 and will be back at Pearson by 10:15-10:30 for pick up.

As this concert will take place in a nice performance hall, all students need to dress appropriately. Men will need to wear nice dress pants, button down or polo shirt, nice dress shoes. You may wear a suit and tie if you wish, but that is not required. Ladies need to wear a nice dress or skirt (school appropriate length) or dress pants, with a nice shirt and shoes. Heels are not recommended due to walking on campus.

Absolutely no jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, or t-shirts.

The cost for the concert will be $7 which covers the entry ticket, dinner before the concert, and the bus to and from the concert. Tickets can be purchased through the Charms store the same way that the Family Picnic tickets were bought. Instructions can be viewed by clicking HERE. All tickets must be purchased by Thursday, November 10th. We have a limited amount of tickets available for our group, so tickets are first come first serve on Charms. Students may also purchase tickets with a check made out to the Pearson Band Parent Association or with cash (exact change only.)

This event requires students to be absolutely still and silent for a long period of time. Please do not register your student if you feel that this would be difficult for them. Parents will be expected to pick up their student in Denton if they are removed from the concert for whispering or talking.

We are also looking for several chaperones to attend the concert with us. Chaperones do not need to purchase an additional ticket for the event.

Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050845AEAE2FA5FE3-pearson2. Additionally, all interested chaperones will need to fill out the volunteer background check at http://www.friscoisd.org/about/resources-and-information/background-checks.

We are looking forward to a great concert and a great trip! Let me know if you have any questions.
