On Tuesday, January 27th, students in both the Concert and Symphonic Bands will be taking a trip to Reedy High School during 2nd-5th periods. While we are there we will be rehearsing with the Reedy Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony over our UIL music, followed by a pizza lunch with the Reedy Band. This is a great opportunity for us to improve on our UIL music while meeting new friends in our sections in the Reedy Band!
Students must wear their Pearson Band shirt for this event.
The itinerary for the day is as follows:
9:20- Report to the band hall for roll.
9:30- Load busses to go to RHS
9:45- Arrive at RHS. Make our way to our rehearsal spaces
10:00-11:30- Rehearse with the Reedy Bands
11:30-12:00- Pizza Lunch with the Reedy Bands!
12:00- Load the busses and return to Pearson
12:11- Return to Pearson and go to class.
Action Required- Students received a permission slip in class on Friday. In order to attend this event, we must have that permission slip returned by Wednesday, January 21st. This permission slip can be found HERE and can be returned digitally by emailing it to Mr. Jenson at jensonm@friscoisd.org
FISD Solo Contest- January 31st
The district solo contest is on Saturday, January 31st at Stafford Middle School. The contest runs from 9am-4 pm. Students will be assigned an individual time to perform for their judge. The performance plus the warm-up time should take between 30-45 minutes total. Students need to wear nice clothes for their performance. They are welcome to wear concert black, but are not required to. Any formal wear is acceptable. Please do not wear jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, sandals, etc.
The solo schedule can be viewed HERE.
Students should arrive 30 minutes before their solo time so that they can warm up and find their rooms and should leave after their performance. All scores and medals will be distributed on Monday February 2nd, so there is no reason to stay at Stafford after the conclusion of their performance.
As a reminder, this is a large district event involving over 500 students in 7 different schools. The schedule is finalized and cannot be changed.
