Pearson Band Fundraiser- September 21st-October 5th
It's fundraiser time in the Pearson Band! This year, we are partnering with a company called MoneyDolly to raise money for new music stands, clinicians, music, trips/competitions, instruments/accessories, and social events. This is a donation based fundraiser, so no sales required!
A HUGE thank you to everyone that has donated their time and/or money to the band throughout this fundraiser. We are halfway to our overall goal and that is only possible due to YOUR support and dedication. The fundraiser runs until October 5th so please consider sharing our fundraiser if possible!

Pearson Band Spirit Wear!
For the first time in a long time, we are excited to offer Pearson Band Spirit Wear to our band families! Pearson Band members will still be receiving their yearly band shirt, but this spirit wear is open for the whole family. Currently in the store are a variety of t-shirts and sweaters/hoodies for when it (eventually) cools down outside!
You can view the Spirit Store by clicking HERE. Orders must be placed by October 4th and will be delivered to the school near the end of the month.
Band Buddies - New Date! October 2nd
In the Pearson Band, we have an optional peer mentor system called Band Buddies. In Band Buddies, beginner band members are paired with students in Concert and Symphonic Band. These older students provide a support system to help the beginners as they go through the challenges of learning a new instrument for the first time. The goal is for students to meet with their Band Buddies at various times throughout the year and practice together. We have a lot of great students in Concert and Symphonic Band that are excited to help the beginners because they remember what it was like to start their musical journey!
I have asked all of the students to fill out the Band Buddies Interest form by Monday, September 14th. Students are not required to have a Band Buddy, but everyone needs to fill out the form to let me know if they are interested so that nobody gets left out. Students must be signed into their Frisco ISD Google Account in order to complete the form.
For students that choose to participate in Band Buddies, we will have a Band Buddy Meet and Greet after school on Friday, October 2nd in the Pearson Cafeteria from 4:00 PM-4:45 PM. This will be when the band buddies get to meet each other, enjoy some ice cream/popsicles together, and plan when they are going to meet in the future.
Practice Journals
All Beginning Band students should be taking their instrument home and practicing daily. During their practice time, students should play and reinforce concepts being taught in class and work on any material they are struggling to play. A daily practice habit is essential to becoming a great musician! Please help your student to build this habit by encouraging (and sometimes telling) them to practice every day.
Starting this week, all members of the Pearson Band have been assigned a practice journal to track their practicing and to help them develop practice habits that will lead them to success in band. This is a graded assignment due every block day (Wed/Thurs) and must be signed by a parent to be considered complete. The rubric and expectations for the practice journal can be found here.
Parents, the following is a fantastic guide for what and how your student should be practicing: https://practicingguide.weebly.com/
Private Lessons
We highly recommend all students in Beginner Band sign up for private lessons. Private lessons are a great way to progress on your instrument with the assistance of a master teacher who plays that same instrument. While tutoring in a core class might only be to catch up or erase deficits in the learning process, private lessons are for everyone. Typically, the top musicians in the band program are ones that are in private lessons! Lessons are $25 per lesson and payment is handled between the parents and the lesson teacher. Scholarships from our Band Parent Association (Band Boosters) are available to those who need.
This is the time to sign up. Our teachers are in high demand and teach across several different campuses and districts. Lesson times are first come first serve, so sign up ASAP. You can sign up by filling out the form HERE.
Instruments and Supplies
All band students need an instruments and supplies in order to be successful in band this year. If you have not ordered them, please click on the following link for directions on how to do so.
Amazon Wish List
We have received SO many items from our wishlist this year! There were several that did not have a name with the gift- If you purchased something off of the band wishlist, please know that we appreciate it so much!
