Beginner Solo Contest - Wednesday, May 1st
The Beginner Band Solo Contest is on Wednesday, May 1st at Pearson Middle School. This contest is for all students in Beginner Band.
This contest runs from 4:30-7:00 with each student having a 5-7 minute time slot. If your student needs a specific time, please email Mr. Jenson by Friday April 19th at 4:00pm. jensonm@friscoisd.org
Students will arrive 15 minutes before their solo's start time so they can find their room and warm‐up.
Students will leave after they perform. They will receive results and awards from their band directors in class the next day.
Families are allowed to be in the performance room while their student is playing.
Since this is a performance for a live judge, we are asking that students wear nice clothes to the event. This includes collared shirts, slacks, dresses, pantsuits, dress shoes, etc. We ask that students avoid wearing jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, or sandals
Studio Movie Grill Social Event
We are excited to announce our next social event for the Pearson Band. We will be attending Studio Movie Grill on the evening of April 24th to watch Kung Fu Panda 4 and eat dinner together. Details for the event are below:
When: Wednesday April 24 at 6 pm. Students will be ready for pick-up by 8:05 pm.
Where: Studio Movie Grill- The Colony (4860 State Hwy 121, The Colony, TX 75056)
Transportation will not be provided. Parents/Guardians are responsible for drop-off and pick-up at Studio Movie Grill. Students must be picked-up inside Studio Movie Grill. No students will be allowed to leave the building without an adult.
How: Tickets include the movie ticket, popcorn, soda/tea, and your choice of entree from the following: Cheese or pepperoni pizza, Crispy chicken tenders, SMG burger, Chili Lime Salad.
The deadline to purchase tickets was Thursday, April 18th. There will be no refunds for tickets purchased. Students that attend agree to follow all Pearson Middle School rules and Pearson Middle School Band trip expectations.

Pearson Band Parent Association (PBPA) Board Positions for 2024-2025 School Year
We need you to serve as a member of the PBPA Board! The PBPA, or Band Boosters, play a vital role in helping the Pearson Band program run. Because of their support, we are able to participate in events and competitions, bring in clinicians to work with students, and hold social events. The Treasurer and Secretary positions are open for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are interested in serving in either one of these roles, please email Mrs. Black at blackmj@friscoisd.org
Monday May 6, 2024 - Reedy HS Auditorium
Bring: Instrument (and all the supplies needed to play it) and band binder.
Wear:
Beginning Band: Band Tshirt and jeans
5:20pm Arrive at Reedy High School. Uncase in your car. Beginning Band students go
to the auditorium stage for warm-up. Concert and Symphonic Band go to the
band hall for warm-up.
5:30pm Warm-up begins. Parents can sit in the auditorium while they wait for the concert
to begin.
6:00pm Concert Begins. Performance order: Jazz Band, Beginning Band, Concert Band,
Symphonic Band. After performing, students should sit in the audience with their
families for the duration of the concert.
7:30pm Approximate end of the concert.
This performance is part of the Band curriculum, therefore attendance and participation is required and graded. If any conflicts arise, please contact Mrs. Black or Mr. Jenson ASAP.
Summer Band Camps
We strongly encourage your student to attend a band camp this summer! It is a great opportunity for your student to improve on their instrument and make new friends. There are many options in the DFW metroplex and around the state.
